In accordance with the provisions of the Safety Law of the People's Republic of China on Special Equipment and the Regulations on Safety Supervision of Special Equipment, the General Administration of Quality Supervision and Inspection has revised the Catalogue of Special Equipment, which has been approved by the State Council and is now promulgated and implemented. At the same time, the Notice on Publishing the Catalogue of Special Equipment (No. 31 of National Quality Inspection Cooker 2004) and the Notice on Supplementing the Catalogue of Special Equipment (No. 22 of National Quality Inspection Service 2010) shall be abolished. The General Administration of Quality Supervision and Inspection is responsible for interpreting the Catalogue of Special Equipment.

Its scope is defined as fixed and mobile vessels with maximum working pressure greater than or equal to 0.1 MPa (gauge pressure), liquefied gas and liquid with maximum working temperature higher than or equal to the standard boiling point, volume greater than or equal to 30L and inner diameter (non-circular section refers to the maximum geometric size of the inner boundary of the section) greater than or equal to 150 mm; holding nominal working pressure greater than or equal to Gases, liquefied gases and cylinders with standard boiling point equal to or below 60 C liquids whose product of pressure and volume is greater than or equal to 1.0 MPa.
