Metal packaging materials are divided into steel and aluminum. And each category contains several varieties, each with its own scope of application. 1. Steel The source of steel is rich, the energy consumption and cost are low, so far it still takes the first place in metal packaging materials. The steel used for packaging is mainly low-carbon steel sheet. Low carbon steel sheet has good plasticity and ductility, good can making technology and excellent comprehensive protection performance, but its punching and drawing performance is not as good as that of aluminum. The biggest disadvantage of steel packaging materials is poor corrosion resistance and easy to rust. It must be used by surface coating and coating. According to the different composition and application of the surface coating, the steel packaging materials mainly include the following categories:
(1) Steel for logistics packaging It is mainly used for manufacturing transport packages and large containers, such as containers, steel boxes, steel drums, etc., as well as binding materials. (2) Galvanized steel sheet Al known as white iron sheet, it is one of the can making materials, mainly used to make industrial product packaging containers. (3) Tinplate Tinplate, also known as tinplate, is the main material for canning. It is widely used in the canning industry and can also be used to make other food and non food can containers. (4) Chrome plate Also known as Wuxi steel plate, it is one of the can making materials, which can partially replace tinplate and is mainly used to make beverage cans. 2. Aluminum Aluminum packaging materials have a short history of use, but because aluminum has some superior properties than steel, especially aluminum resources, aluminum refining methods have been greatly improved, so aluminum as a packaging material has developed rapidly in recent years, and has replaced steel packaging materials in some aspects. The main characteristics of aluminum are light weight, non-toxic and tasteless, good plasticity, ductility and drawing performance, stable chemical properties in the atmosphere and water vapor, no rust, clean and shiny surface. The disadvantage of aluminum is that it is not corrosion-resistant in acid, alkali and salt media, so the surface must be coated or plated to be used as food containers, and its strength is lower than that of steel, and its cost is higher than that of steel, so aluminum is mainly used for sales packaging, rarely used in transportation packaging. Aluminum for packaging can be used in the following forms. (1) Aluminum plate It is a pure aluminum or aluminum alloy sheet, which is one of the can making materials. It can replace some tinplate and is mainly used to make beverage cans. (2) Aluminum foil The electrolytic aluminum plate with purity of more than 99.5% is made by filling and extending, and the thickness is less than 0.20 mm. Generally, the aluminum foil for packaging is used in combination with other materials as the barrier layer to improve the barrier performance. (3) Aluminized film Because it is in the plastic film or paper on the top of the very thin aluminum layer. It can be used as a substitute of aluminum foil and is widely used. Its barrier performance is slightly worse than that of aluminum foil, but its stab resistance is excellent and its practical performance is better than that of aluminum foil. This kind of aluminized film material is often used to make lining bag material. |
